Double For Your Trouble
There is a great lesson that we need to learn from the life of Paul and Silas. Often we end up murmuring and complaining when things take a wrong turn in our life. We blame God and everything around us when we are in a difficult situation.
Paul and Silas were put in prison. They were chained down. But instead of blaming God they praised him. All through the night they worshipped the Lord. Their situation did not take control of them because they knew who their God was.
Praise is your weapon. Praise is the water your circumstances and troubles drown in. Hallelujah!
You need to make good use of your weapon. When Paul and Silas worshipped God, their chains broke.
Acts 27:23-26
‘Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. Nevertheless, we must run aground on some island.”’
Do not be afraid! Your courage is in the Lord. As long as you put your faith in the Lord Almighty, you will not be shaken. Even in the most difficult situation of your life, remember that God is mighty to save.
I often say that you will receive double (blessings) for your troubles.
There are two situations in the Old Testament where we can read about double blessings.
One, usually the first born son in the family gets a double portion of the assets in the family. All of us know the history of Esau and Joseph. Joseph received the double blessing from Isaac which was rightfully Esau’s.
The other condition for receiving double blessings is if your livestock or possession gets stolen, the thief when caught should pay back in double.
Exodus 22:4
‘If the stolen animal is found alive in their possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—they must pay back double.’
If you are someone who belongs to the second category, do not be afraid. What the enemy has taken from you will be returned to you in double. Believe in Him. Do not lose hope in the Saviour.
Job 19:25-26
‘’I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;”
Let’s look at the testimony of Sheela. Back in May 2016, in one of the Blessing Today TV episodes, Sis. Kshama had called out the name Sheela and said that God was healing her uterus and she was going to be blessed with children. Sheela received the prophecy by faith and immediately she felt a coldness in her uterus. In the years that followed, she attended the Blessing Festivals that took place in Kattakada in 2016 and 2017. She would regularly pray for a baby. As an action of faith she even wrote down in the prayer request section of one of the sponsorship forms - Thank you Jesus for blessing me with a child.
And in 2018, after 22 years of marriage she became pregnant and in place of one she was blessed with twins!
Summary
Our God is not stingy. When he blesses a person, he pours abundance into his life. God always blesses in multiples. That is how he expresses his love for his children. And we need to be capable and sure that we can handle the blessings that he is going to pour out into our lap.
