God Will Establish Your House
In the early years of my salvation journey, I noticed placards in homes that read, “Jesus is the Head of this Home; a silent listener to every conversation.” We need to have this cognizance sink into our hearts and let Jesus who is in us to direct our lives and that He is the Head of the house and the steering wheel is in His hands. Those who have submitted their homes to Jesus will be able to overcome the crisis that comes in their lives. God is a builder of homes.
2 Samuel 3:1
The war between the house of Saul and the house of David lasted a long time. David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.
Saul was the first king of Israel and he had an eye-catching personality; he was the most handsome man in Israel, from his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people. Samuel anointed Saul as king (extrinsic to the permissive and perfect will of God) because the Israelites enjoined for a king, though God desired Himself to be King over His people, to lead them and go before them and fight their battles. However, Saul didn’t seek God, His guidance and His ways to lead the nation of Israel and failed to keep the Lord’s command. So, after a reign of about forty-two years the Lord rejected Saul as king over Israel, after which David became king. Saul’s family was destroyed and became nothing.
Psalm 89:29
I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
Isaiah 16:5
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it— one from the house of David— one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
John 7:42
Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”
God built and exalted the house of David and because David was a man after God’s heart. God promised to establish David’s house forever, which is accomplished through Jesus Christ.
When Jesus looked up at the sycamore tree which Zacchaeus climbed and asked him to come down, because he was going to stay at Zaccheaus’ home that day, the people who saw this began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” Zacchaeus however welcomed the Saviour to his home gladly and repented of his past life. (Luke 19:1-10) Do not seek public opinion, but God’s will which is written in His Word and live your life accordingly.
The head of every family should have a close-knit relationship with God, who is the builder of families so that your home/your family too will be established. Take a firm decision as Joshua, ‘but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD’. Today, all in your house may be scattered in different directions; but God can restore each one in our family and bring you all together as a single unit. Hallelujah! God is going to build your family, for now is the time of grace and favour!
Ground yourself in the Word, and the Word, which is power and life, will transform your life. Jesus sustains all things that were created by His powerful word (Hebrews 1:3). If so, won’t He sustain your life as well by His Word? Your generations will serve the true and living God. God has spotted you and your family; and He has sealed you with the Name that is above all names, for His glory. He will build and strengthen your family as well.
Psalm 112:1-2
Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Your generations will be blessed and they will be a blessing to many. They wouldn’t be influenced by the pleasures of this world; instead being filled with the Holy Spirit, will attract their friends to the love of Christ. God has promised to pour out His Spirit on all flesh, and that includes you and your family too!
