Now Is The Day Of Salvation
We are living in the period of grace and favour. We don’t have to live in fear or sin. Jesus died for all our sins and has called us his sons and daughters.
2 Corinthians 6:2
‘For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.’
The favour that is upon Jesus flows into us. We approach God the Father in the name of Jesus. Everything is through, by and from Jesus.
In the book of Luke we come across a person named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
Luke 19:1-3
‘Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.’
Zacchaeus was not sick or poor. His needs were all met. He did not have any material or physical issues so there was no reason for him to go to Jesus. But he still went because he wanted to see who Jesus was.
Many people approach Jesus only for their many needs.
Understand this, even if you are blessed beyond measure every person has a thirst inside to know Jesus. Even if you have a business empire, you need Jesus to be saved. Whatever your position may be, nevertheless you need Jesus.
Zacchaeus was short and so he couldn’t see Jesus in the crowd but that did not stop him.
Luke 19:4
‘So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.’
Zacchaeus ran and climbed a tree to see Jesus. He did not care about his position in society.
Luke 19:5-6
‘When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.’
Jesus was going to spend the night in Zacchaeus’ house that day. This was a great shock to everybody. Tax collectors were considered sinners and hated by the Jews.
Luke 19:7
‘All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”’
Jesus wants to come to your house. He doesn't care who you are or what you have done. He loves you. Zacchaeus only wanted to see Jesus but Jesus wanted to stay with him.
Luke 19: 8
‘But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
Amazing isn’t it? When Jesus comes into your life, you will be transformed. Zacchaeus felt guilty and confessed and he decided to change.
Luke 19:9-10
‘Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Summary
Jesus has come into your home today. The King of kings and Lord of lords has come to stay with you. Are you ready to welcome him?
