You are a Nation

05 May, 2019

Collectively and individually God sees us as a nation. Statistically, in the first century there was one believer for every 360 non- believers. Today, we have one believer for every five non- believer. We, the believers are the nation of God. God’s holy people. 1 Peter 2 :9 -10 says that we are His special possession. His nation lives under His marvellous light, although like others we were living in darkness, He brought us out of it and we now live under his mercy.

This Holy Nation entitles us to be:

  • God’s chosen people
  • A royal priesthood
  • Gods special possession
  • Called out of darkness to live in truth
  • People of God
  • Recipients of His divine mercy

Gods purpose is to bring out a holy nation out of all unholy nations. If we look around, we see a lot of sin being practiced. Wickedness, unthinkable crime, witchcraft… We are unworthy to be a part of God’s nation but Jesus paid the price for us to be redeemed and set us free to join His nation. Like extracting gold from ore is a laborious and difficult task, God is separating a Holy nation out of the corrupt nations for His glory. In Exodus 19:4-6 God was speaking to Israel. He says we are special to Him. God’s decision in His sovereignty has made Him choose people for His kingdom. Are we willing to heed His call?

How is God’s nation to be :

  • In the holy nation, people are chosen from all the nations of the world.
  • They are carried up like on the wings of eagles i.e they get to see the big picture God has for us as they are looking from the view of a spiritual awakening. When we are Christ’s, we are seated high up, at His right hand of power and glory.
  • They are the treasured possessions of God
  • All in His nation are priests: men, women and every believer. We have a priestly anointing, those who are baptised in the Holy Spirit.
  • They have a royal anointing, a kingdom of priests with a prophetic fellowship. They believe in the prophesies foretold and God speaks through them, thereby making them prophets of God.

In Genesis 1:28 when God first created man, He told them to multiply and subdue the nations, to multiply whatever we possess for His glory. Do you increase and multiply what you have? Are the talents and blessing given to you by God being used for His glory?

There will be a day to settle accounts with our giver. Whatever the Lord gives we need to multiply it. It’s the original mandate of our Creator, the author of life.

Isaiah 60:22 says that you may be  insignificant today but the Lord will make you great. You have the potential to multiply and become a great nation for the Lord. Adam and Eve were just two humans created, but God saw them as all of humanity. Likewise when God sees us, He sees a Holy Nation, He can do great things through us. Abraham was another ordinary man but God was pleased with him and made him the father of God’s nation and promised him that nations would come out of him. We can all receive that kind of anointing.

God referred to the descendants of Abraham as: Dust of the earth, Sands of the sea, and like stars. The nation of God are like  the stars. Having received the light of Jesus, we shine like the stars in this perverse generation. Jesus is the star of David and we who are in Him shine His light.

Your destiny is fixed and destined by the author of salvation, not by what anybody else says. We are the children of the living God.

In Joseph’s life, although there was a serious of misfortunes, God turned it out for the greater good and survival of many. Likewise when the favourite children of God go through tough times it shows something awesome is coming after the series of misfortunes. Be patient during trials for some great fortune is going to promote you. You are the child of the Lord of lords, a part of His Holy Nation.
