The resurrection of Jesus has a huge connection with our spiritual awakening. That power of God that made the impossible possible, was the greatest victory over the last enemy of humanity named death. Jesus defeated death to bridge that gap for men to cross over to life if they believed .
Our spiritual awakening is like Jesus’ resurrection. Just as He died in flesh and was brought back to a new and everlasting spiritual body, we are born again when we first die to our flesh and then our Spirits are awakened by the power of the Holy Spirit for eternity. For it is said in Peter 3:18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
When we are spiritually awakened we have a reconnection of our body, soul and spirit with our creator that leads to restoration and revival. Now revival means restoration, a spiritual awakening that is the resurrection of our dead spirits by the power of the Holy Spirit to cross from death to everlasting life.
When we live in sin we are dead in our spirit, we are asleep although bodily awake. It is only when we are born again that our spirits are awake and alive forever in Christ. Hence sleep is like a short death and death is like an extended sleep, a sleep that we arise from when Christ comes again.
Spiritual awakening is when an unsaved soul is touched by Jesus. A revival is for the saved souls that need to reignite their spirits. From the sin of Adam we have inherited a state of separation form God because God is holy and pure, the true life. We had to be redeemed by the grace of Lord Jesus to be born of the Spirit and reconnect with our Holy Father. So everyone who is born, has to go through a spiritual awakening that reconnects them with God.
like it is said in John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
1. Newness in our nature.
Jesus had a new body after His resurrection, likewise we will have a new spirit after we are awakened as it is said in 2 Corinthians 5 :17. A man in Christ has a new nature.
2. Newness in our hearts.
Our hearts of stone are replaced for a heart in Christ. 2 Corinthians 9.5
3. Newness in our awareness.
During spiritual awakening our view of the world centres on our Saviour and the Spirit who awakened us. The realisation of the kingdom of heaven that he belongs to brings us the awareness of how to go about life.
4. Newness in perspective.
Our outlook of the world will change. Everything we see will be in a new perspective as our spiritual awareness is heightened.
The Holy Spirit that has awakened our sleeping spirits never sleeps. He is always awake. He never leaves or forsakes us. We may sometimes slumber and slip but the Holy Spirit will always be working in us. It is the responsibility of this Spirit of God to mould us into the image of Jesus and one day transport us to heaven. Let us thank Him for His faithfulness.
R A Tori. Has brought us a prescription for revival:
This method is tried and tested and proven to work.
God is speaking to us as a church family that He is preparing us for a revival. Firstly lets come to God and repent of all our hidden sins renounce it and have our stand right with God. There should be no compromises and we need to walk within His will.
Peter the rock of Jesus had an awakening after he denied Christ. The third crow of the rooster made him realise the mistake he had made. Symbolically the cry of the rooster can remind us of an awakening
1.The roosters call should likewise wake us out of our slumber; we who are sleeping spiritually need a wake up call. We have to rise up and work toward Gods will for sleep time is over.
2.It should remind us of our sins. We need to be aware of our sins which we were blind to for a revival.
3. A call to remain humble. Peter wept bitterly when he realised who he denied.
An awakening should reminds us of what Jesus has asked us to do and rekindle Gods desire in our hearts. A morning of rival to get right with God had dawned and Peter that brought many to Christ. A spiritual awakening happens when all that God taught us and told us to do comes alive in us and we are willing to listen and desire to do as He says. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Ephesians 5:14 NIV Let’s declare that death has no effect over us anymore because our Lord Jesus has risen to save us !
