Right Ways to Treat the Holy Spirit Part-1

18 February, 2021

In the previous episode we were talking about the wrong ways people treat the Holy Spirit  Now it is time for us to know the right ways.

How would you treat the Holy Spirit in the right way?

  • Honour him.

It is a general policy that if you honour him he will honour you.

After Jesus came into the world the next greatest event was the advent of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said that after I go another person will come in my place.

He said that whatever he was doing in the world will be replaced by the Holy Spirit.

He will do what Jesus did and stop where Jesus stopped.

He said  ‘ honour him the way you honour me.’

Because he is a highly honorable person.

That means Jesus is God!

And we have to honour the Holy Spirit as God.

A lot of people have questions regarding the Holy Spirit, they ask if the Holy Spirit is really God or if he is a minor God?

Psalm 139

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;

if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

Some versions replace “depth” with “hell”.

Does that mean God is in hell?

God is in hell also but there is a problem, the presence of God cannot be tasted in hell.

God is present but his presence will not be available to us.

God is everywhere, wherever you went he is present!

But if you want to enjoy his presence he has to open his Glory in a tangible way.

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,

if I settle on the far side of the sea,

In other words you cannot escape from God.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me

and the light become night around me,”

So you will  be able to find God everywhere, no matter day or night.

The Holy Spirit, the spirit of God is everywhere.

He is Omnipresent and only God can be omnipresent because it is his character.

So we have to honour the Holy Spirit as God himself.

So how to treat the Holy Spirit in the right way?

Matthew 28:19

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Here, the name of the Holy Spirit is given along with the name of God.

He is not an inferior God all three are mentioned as equals.

To honour the Holy Spirit as God himself.

So Jesus equaled himself with God and the Holy Spirit.

Many Ministries do not honour the Holy Spirit as God.

Hebrews 9:14

14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

The phrase that I want to highlight here is “the eternal spirit”

The Holy Spirit is not a temporary spirit, He is the eternal spirit.

Only God is completely eternal.

Angels have a beginning, men have a beginning and even the devil has a beginning.

Because all of them are created beings but God is the creator.

He has no beginning and no end.

The Holy Spirit here is mentioned as an eternal being. Meaning he has no beginning  & no end.

So we have to honour the Holy Spirit as God!

We have to treat the Holy Spirit with honour because he is the bringer of Jesus Christ.

Because Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit.

I mentioned this before as well the Holy Spirit has played a very important role in the life of Jesus.

Once Jesus was talking to his disciples he said I’m going to my father and if I go the helper will come, the comforter will come and if you believe me you will do greater things that I did.

The disciples will do greater things than Jesus, but who is actually doing these things?

The Holy Spirit!!

The work of the Holy Spirit is going to become greater than Jesus.

Jesus’ work was limited to one nation but the work of the holy spirit is going to go international.

The Holy Spirit is the Unlimited edition! He is going to do it on a greater magnitude and thus it is our duty to HONOUR him! He is the Boss!
