Luke 8:2-3 ‘and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.’
There were ‘some’ women in Jesus’ team. They were demon possessed and had diseases once. But now, you can see in the verse above that they were healed and went along with Jesus and his disciples to places preaching the gospel.
There are many sponsors, partners etc. for different organizations or groups. Similarly, during Jesus’ ministry on earth there were a few women including Joanna and Susanna who sponsored or supported his ministry. They supported the ministry from their own means.
Does this mean that Jesus was poor and that he needed others to help him financially?
No. Everything on the earth is already his.
One of the many ways in which we can be a part of his ministry is by supporting him.
Giving to the ministry of Jesus is a great privilege. Being a partner or shareholder of his ministry is a great honor.
Now how did Jesus treat the ones who supported him financially?
He said that anyone who gives to the kingdom of God will receive 100 times in this world and everlasting life in heaven.
The kingdom of God works on the principle of giving rewards.
