Exodus 31:18 “When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”
Moses got a written revelation from God to show the Israelites
Revelation 1:1-3 “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
Here, Jesus gives a revelation to John to tell the people! When Moses gave a revelation that lasted till the Old Testament, Jesus gave a revelation that lasts up to eternity.
Both Moses and Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights. These fasting sessions were to set apart time and sit in God’s presence to get closer to Him and hear from Him.
Exodus 34:28 “Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.”
Matthew 4:2 “After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.”
Their bodies would have been tired but they were filled with spiritual power!
Exodus 34:29,35 “When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.” and “they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.”
Matthew 17:2 “There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”
Both of them were transfigured ; their faces were radiant. Moses experienced a smaller version of what Jesus had. Even when we spend time with God and are close to Him, these things happen to us as well spiritually! Our spiritual eyes open to see God supernaturally.
Place outside the camp
Exodus 33:7 “Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp.”
Hebrews 13:12-13 “And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.”
Even we have been called to carry this cross.
When Moses travelled back to Egypt from Midian, He inflicted 10 plagues on the Egyptians
While reading Revelations, we see that in the second coming of Jesus, there will be plagues unleashed when He comes back again!
Prayer for Israel for the forgiveness of their sins
Numbers 14:19 “In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now.”
Luke 23:34 “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.””
Both of them cried out for the salvation of the Jews!
Washing brothers with water
Leviticus 8:6 “Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.”
John 13:5 “After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”
It shows the purification of their brothers. It also shows their humility in serving those below them even while being the chosen ones of God.
Prophecies for future times
In Deuteronomy 33, Moses prophecies many things about the future, mainly about the tribes Israel
In Matthew 24, Jesus does the same! However He prophesies not just about Israel but about all nations (eschatological)
Numbers 7:6-8 “So Moses took the carts and oxen and gave them to the Levites. He gave two carts and four oxen to the Gershonites, as their work required, and he gave four carts and eight oxen to the Merarites, as their work required. They were all under the direction of Ithamar, son of Aaron, the priest.”
We see Moses giving rewards to various people.
Revelations 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”
Jesus does not come empty handed, but he will reward us for whatever we do in Jesus’ name! There is a record in heaven for the things we do for Him. Philippians 4 tells us about the account of our deeds in heaven!
Exodus 40:16 “Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him.” Although Moses did make a few mistakes, God doesn’t take it into account as it is written here that He did everything as the Lord commanded him.
John 15:10 “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.”
The way to blessings is obedience, and the opposite i.e. disobedience brings us curse. We should do a self -check on our obedience to God.
