Come To The Father

19 March, 2021

John 6.37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

The Father gives us to Jesus.

John 6.44No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Here we read that God the Father draws us to Him. In simpler terms, the Father is calling His Sons and daughters to Him. The parable of the Prodigal Son ( Luke 15) is one of the most memorable and powerful parables spoken by Jesus to us where he picturises a very good father waiting for the prodigal son to come back. A Bible Scholar says that this is the only place in the Bible where we see GOd the Father running towards His lost son. Normally the Father is picturised as ‘sitting’. So it is not just us coming to the Father but also the Father is running towards us. In the world, we see billions living away from the father but the Father draws/ attracts such to Him. He is not interested in the religious people. The only true God has nothing to do with religion , instead He is looking for individual personal relationships. The younger son in the prodigal son parable leaves the Father after getting His share. The same is happening in this world, where we leave the Father after receiving everything from Him. We are not thankful for the blessings and also tend to delink ourselves from the heart of the Father and live as we want to. Eventually the younger son lost his fellowship, joy, His Father House, peace of mind, health, His image, His belongings etc  and also the blessings He enjoyed in the Father’s house. When we get away from the Father who is the source of blessings, we lose everything. But when we come back to Him, everything is restored. The Father embraced the prodigal son when He came back. In this one embrace from the Father, everything is restored.

2 Corinthians 6.2 For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation”

This is the Father’s voice to anyone who is living away from the father. The prodigal son repented of his sins and prayed in Luke 15.21, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ He wanted him to consider him as his servant.

But in Luke 19.10 we read,”For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” The Father’s love through Jesus is searching everywhere for the lost. When we are lost we have lost everything . Romans 3.23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. All have sinned and gone astray and lost all but when we come back, everything is restored.

2 Corinthians 5.17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The old life will be pushed away and a new life will be pushed in. Many hate their present life mainly because they live disconnected from the Father. But God wants to recreate you. In Ephesians 2.10, we read “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. God wants to create a new you. When we come into a fellowship with the father, a new life will flow to you since He is the Source of all.

The love of God will flow  into you. Romans 5.5 God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us

Our rich Father wants to share His spiritual riches with us ( Ephesians 1.3). Romans 8.32 states that all you need comes to you. A rich father’s child is rich by default. The closer fellowship we have with the Father will bless you with great riches. So today let’s draw near to Him as He calls us.
