These days we are discussing how to treat the Holy Spirit the right way. It is an exciting topic and can revolutionize our spiritual life and bring in immense blessings from heaven.
The right ways to treat the Holy Spirit :
Firstly honour the Holy Spirit as God because he is God himself. Secondly we have to receive him into our life, our heart , into our family and our churches. Third right way to treat the Holy Spirit is we have to hunger and thirst for him.
The Holy Spirit does not belong to any sector, denomination or any organization or movement. He can be possessed only by the hungry and thirsty people.
The Holy Spirit is looking for desperate people who are passionate about him, he is looking for people who are praying to get more of him.The Holy Spirit is looking for people who are searching for him.
There are two invitations i want to share
In Mathew 11:28
‘Come to me,all you who are weary and burdened and i will give you rest’
Here Jesus is giving an open invitation to those who are laboring and heavy leaden to come to him he will give rest.
Jesus says ‘Come to me, i am willing to teach you, give you rest. This is an open invitation to anyone who is exhausted, tired and brokenhearted to come to Jesus he will give you rest. It’s not based on your shape, your status, your class, religion or anything, it’s for anyone. No matter what situation or conditions you are experiencing now you can approach Jesus. It does not matter if you are guilty of being a sinner and feel you do not deserve to go to Jesus. It clearly says in the Bible Jesus has said he did not come to this world for the righteous or holy people. He came to this world in search of the lost, the sinners and he gave his own life as a ransom for them. This open invitation is for criminals, adulterers, drunkards, good people, bad people, rich and poor people, men, women, kids, youth, and old alike. It’s an open invitation for all kinds of people. ‘Come to me’ Jesus says.
In Revelation 3:20
‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,i will come in and eat with that person and they with me’
If anyone opens the door i will come,i will not open purposely because it is shut from inside, so you have to open the door. You have to have an open heart then Jesus will come in.
Did you know there is an open invitation to come to the Holy Spirit?
In John 7:37-39
‘On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in loud voice ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.Whoever believes in me as the Scriptures has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this he meant the Spirit whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given since Jesus had not yet been glorified. ‘
Here even if Jesus is giving an invitation it is actually an invitation of the Holy Spirit. This is an open invitation of the Holy Spirit.
In Revelation 22:17
‘The Spirit and the bride say ‘Come! And let the one who hears say ,’Come! Let the one who is thirsty come and let one who wishes take the free gift of water of life.’
The Spirit here is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is saying “Come’ but Spirit is saying this together with the bride.
The Spirit is standing with the bride. Who is the Bride? Whose bride?The bride is the bride of Jesus. Where is she? Who is she? When we look into the spiritual implication, the bride refers to the people of God or church of the living God. The church is the spiritual bride of the lamb of God hence the Holy Spirit along with the spiritual bride of Church is calling out, ‘COME COME
Let the one who hears say come means everyone who is having this open invitation also join in inviting others .The church of God or people of God calls out to people to join . For what purpose ?
LET THE ONE WHO IS THIRSTY COME AND LET ONE WHO WISHES TAKE FREE GIFTS OF THE WATER OF LIFE.
This is an open invitation for all those who are thirsty for God.Many people are still thirsty for God, for many things of God, things from heaven but God’s people should go out and invite them to join.
One who wishes to take the free gift of water of life.
How to treat the Holy Spirit the Right way?Thirst for him, have a deep desire or longing for him, ask for more and when you get it ask for more and get deeper and wider. Thirst for more as it is an open invitation.
Next right way is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. It’s not only thirst for him but get filled with him.
In Ephesians 5:18
‘Do not be drunk on wine which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit. ‘
In chapters of Acts of Apostles chapter 2 to other chapters we frequently see people getting filled with the Holy Spirit hence we should get filled with the Holy Spirit.
Another right way to treat the Holy Spirit is Obey the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 5:32
‘We are the witnesses of these things and. So is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him’.
This is an open invitation but the Holy Spirit is given to only those who obey God. If you are willing to obey God you are the right candidate.
Take a decision to obey the Holy Spirit. Obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
The last right way to treat the Holy Spirit is ‘Be Led by the Holy Spirit’.
In Romans 8:14
‘For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God’
We the children of God are supposed to be led by the Holy Spirit. In Other Words
those who are led by the Holy Spirit are called the children of God
The same thing is portrayed in
Galatians 5:18
‘But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law “
When led by the Holy Spirit you are not under the law, you are free.
LET EVERYONE BE LED BY THE SPIRIT
AND TREAT HIM THE RIGHT WAY.
